Ankhenaten Lab utilizes a small consortium of alchemists to make the products we offer to you. Our current offerings are based on both ancient and modern alchemical processes on Gold and selected Sea Salts or Earths. Most of the methods herein are based upon ancient techniques and modern developments in the broadening field of Alchemical information. Most of these methods have been enhanced or improved by the research work of the Alchemists of Ankhenaten Lab
All Methods at Ankhenaten Lab are disclosed with the intent of providing aid and direction to those who wish to learn. Each method has been tested and reproduced within the small group of alchemists associated with Ankhenaten Lab.
The information regarding methods is for research and enlightenment purposes only, and should not be attempted by persons without decent knowledge and understanding of Chemistry. We offer these methods to you for information only; any other use is at your own liability.
Please be careful and use safety equipment with all chemical processes.
Remember when boiling Acids or strong Hydroxide solutions, the solution may sputter and spit, sometimes right out of the flask. Be prepared for this and do NOT get these solutions on your skin or in your eyes. They are quite corrosive. Rinse and Wash IMMEDIATELY.
Improved Precipitate Purifying Method - A Process of Removing Salt and Improving the Taste of Salt and Earth Alchemy Precipitates
This simplified process allows one to take a wet-method salt extraction precipitate, or an earth-alchemy precipitate and produce a very clean tasting, almost sweet resulting product. START with ORMUS precipitate, from either Sea Salts, Sea Water, or Earth Extractions. Begin the following steps AFTER completing the final titration, and PRIOR to ANY wash steps.
1. SETTLING and CLEAR SOLUTION REMOVAL -
a. Allow the precipitate to settle, preferably in a tall and narrow glass or plastic vessel/jar -- UNCOVERED {to allow for evaporative concentration and vapor removal as well}. Let the precipitate initally settle for a full 2 days before first beginning to remove any clear liquid.
b. Remove the clear liquid from above the precipitate -- use a siphon or similar method to carefully remove it. A 10ml syringe with a plastic tube attached also works well. Do NOT remove any of the white precipitate material if possible.
c. Each day {at 24 hour intervals}, for at least 5 days, check the precipitate for formation of clear liquid. Remove the liquid if a sufficient amount has formed to do so without significantly disturbing the white precipitate.
d. WHEN 3 DAYS has passed with no significant increased formation of any clear liquid we progress to the next step.
PRIMARY SALT REMOVAL -
a. Add a quantity of your choice of Water to the precipitate to +50% of the precipitate volume. {volume after addition of water is 1.5X of precipitate alone}.
b. Repeat steps 1a-1d precisely as above.
pH ADJUSTMENT -
a. To the now clean precipitate, dropwise titrate with HCl while monitoring the pH until the pH of the solution is ~8.0. This will not take as much acid as you might think.
You NOW have a very nice precipitate that will taste surprisingly sweet and clean - especially if you are used to normal ORMUS taste. The yield from this method will also be higher than the "quick" multi-wash method normally used, though the tradeoff is TIME and patience. It is well worth it!
{If you started with a Sea Salt or Seawater extraction precipitate where the Magnesium content is high you *may* find that the pH balancing Step#3 above causes much of your white precipitate to go back into solution -- What you KNOW however, is that it is ALL still there!
It just isn't White and in a precipitate form! Technically - if one wanted to remove the Magnesium {as hydroxide} from the solution, leaving ONLY the ORME elements one could again follow the sequences of Step#1 again, from this point {though you might find there is little actual ORME elements in there}.
One might also choose to stop at a pH of 8.5, rather than 8.0, but the flavor at 8.0 is far superior. - this MgOH artifact is just a disadvantage of using sea-salt or seawater source materials. -- There is quite a bit more Mg in sea-salt and seawater than ORME elements.}
You may now proceed to dry the powder if you wish:
{at this point for a real treat, as an option -- add +10% by volume of grain alcohol to your precipitate - this can be pure or as low as 80 proof -- the alcohol tends to vaporze and remove several volatiles from the material and leave it with a "smoother" texture and taste when completed -- but it is OPTIONAL}
INITIAL DRYING -
a. Pour the precipitate into a bowl. Place into an oven on LOW {~150'F} or a warm and dry area uncovered, except with perhaps a cheesecloth or other material to keep out dust, etc.
b. Allow the precipitate to sit until sufficiently dry that it has begun to "crack" throughout, and separates from the bowl cleanly.
INITIAL DRYING -
a. Remove the precipitate from the bowl and transfer to a mortar, and grind the clumps to a rough powder.
b. Transfer to a Pyrex bowl that is dry. Heat in an oven or other environment at ~200'C {350-400'F} for about 1-2 hours.
c. Remove and allow to cool -- use a mortar and pestle to re-grind to a finer powder.
And Now you are DONE! Use it as you see fit!
